Volgograd State Medical University (VSMU) – one of the oldest universities of Volgograd city – established in 1935 as the Stalingrad Medical Institute. In 2012 Universty became one of the largest among the medical and pharmaceutical universities of Russia, 15 thousand people are trained at various levels. VSMU – this is one of the leading medical universities in our country, for 80 years, having risen from the provincial medical school to university with a worldwide reputation, allowing the build up the foundation of a rich, including military experience, promising innovations, carefully keeping existing glorious traditions and passing them out generation after generation, VSMU every day prepares highly qualified specialists of the 21st century.

Volgograd Medical University –unique complex of continuous professional training, which trains specialists of junior and middle-level medical care, doctors of various specialties, pharmacists, social workers, clinical psychologists, engineering personnel for biotechnological systems and technology management for the health care system, geneticists, biochemists and biology teachers. In college preparatory, two compartments: one – for the Russian, the other – for foreign students. University graduates can continue their education at the faculty of postgraduate education (internship – until 2016, residency, postgraduate, and doctorate);

VSMU – a scientific and innovative production center. In high school, in the framework of a regional chemical-pharmaceutical cluster, as its scientific core, to create a scientific center of innovative medicines with the development of industrial production, which today and in the future play an important part, a branch of the University – Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute .
