SAMARA MEDICAL INSTITUTE REAVIZ

Medical Institute “REAVIZ” is one of the first non-state medical higher education institutions in our country. “REAVIZ” occupies an honorable place in the list of leading educational institutions of Samara. Nowadays “REAVIZ” is recognized by the professional community not in Samara only but abroad as well. In April 2003 Medical Institute “REAVIZ” was awarded the American Golden Certificate of Quality, which is considered to be evidence of international acknowledgment.

“REAVIZ” successfully carries out a number of practical projects in surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, dentistry, and pharmacy. Our institute follows the best traditions of academic and research schools in Russia.

The main aim of the Medical Institute “REAVIZ” is to train professional medical staff according to the requirements of the state educational standard with specializations as follows:

THERAPEUTIC DEPARTMENT

The Therapeutic department of Medical Institute “REAVIZ” implements educational programs of higher vocational education with a specialization in “General Medicine”. The Department was opened in 1993

Training is conducted according to the State educational standard, which provides for studying compulsory and elective courses in humanities, social and economic subjects, natural science, mathematical and biomedical subjects, and also vocational and specialized subjects.

In the process of training as a doctor students need to take part in an introductory internship, so after the second year of studying students work for 4 weeks as assistants to ward and medical treatment nurses. Students should become familiar with the medical procedures which are performed by practicing nurses in hospitals.

The level of practical experience which students acquire in the introductory internship, in practical sessions in clinics, and also during independent work (follow-up of a patient) is later assessed at the time of the State Final Certification of graduates.

DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT

The training period of a full-time course is 5 years.

The lecturers of the Chair work in five main scientific fields: restorative dentistry, dental surgery, prosthetic dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and preventive care of dental diseases.

The main scientific areas of research are aspects of immunology in dentistry, periodontology, and cell technologies.

There is a special classroom equipped with anatomical models and dummies on which students sharpen their skills. In advanced years of studying students learn directly from the dental chair in dental care clinics and in dental departments of municipal out-patient clinics.

After 5 years of studying there is the State Final Certification of graduates in accordance with the State educational standard of higher medical education. The graduates are assigned the qualification of a dentist and are issued a diploma.

LIBRARY

The private library of the Institute meets the requirements of the Model Regulations on the formation of the library fund higher education institution, approved by Order of the Russian Ministry of 27.04.2000 №1246. Teaching-methodical and informational support of educational activities carried out through the acquisition of new modern media and by issuing their own teaching materials, as paper and on electronic media.

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

The following research is conducted:

• “Evaluation of the functional state of fetoplacental complex and correction of his failure in obstetric and extragenital pathology”, “Early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disorders of the fetoplacental complex on the background of maternal iron deficiency”;
• “The state of immunological reactivity and the ways of its correction in pregnant women with rheumatic heart disease”;
• “Of the immune status of pregnant women with recurrent pregnancy loss study and the ways of its correction”;
• “Clinical results cesarean operations performed by the method of Stark.”
• “The use of cold plasma surgery for chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract, including chronic rhinitis and adenoid vegetations.”
• “The role of topographic and anatomical features of the pharynx in the formation of obstructive sleep apnea, accompanied by snoring, including topographic and anatomical features of the soft palate and the lingual tonsil.”
• “Pathological-anatomical features of the lingual tonsils in chronic tonsillitis.”
• “The influence of spine pathology in the formation of vasomotor rhinitis.”
• “Topographic and anatomic features of intranasal structures, nasal mucosa at various pathologies of the nose and paranasal structures on MRI of the nose and paranasal sinuses of patients with diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses.”

ACCOMMODATION

International students are offered residence in a hostel

All services, facilities, and living rooms are recently renovated.

Each block includes a bathroom with a toilet and shower. There are communal kitchens on each floor.

There are sports rooms, rooms for classes and recreation. Video surveillance at the entrance to the hall of residence and on the floors is provided.
