FACULTY OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY OF MEDICINES
Today, FITM is a unique faculty for the training of engineers in the pharmaceutical industry.
When preparing for the direction 19.03.01 Biotechnology, students receive knowledge and skills in the following disciplines: “Bioengineering”, “Fundamentals of genetics and selection of microorganisms”, “Industrial cultivation of biological objects”, “Biotechnology of plant tissues”, “Nanomaterials in biotechnology”, etc.
The term of preparation for the bachelor’s program at the FITM is 4 years.
The training ends with the defense of a graduation project or a thesis.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree, students can deepen their specialization in a professional direction by enrolling in a master’s program, and also have the opportunity to start an independent professional activity.
The departments of the faculty are equipped with modern laboratory analytical and technological equipment. The faculty includes a GMP training center, which consists of a laboratory, production “clean” rooms of the solid dosage forms section, production “clean” rooms of the sterile dosage forms section, and production “clean” rooms of the soft dosage forms section. This center is equipped with modern instrumentation necessary for obtaining various dosage forms. The GMP-training center is actively used in the practical training of students.
FACULTY OF PHARMACY
Throughout its history, this faculty has been and is one of the recognized leaders in the country in training specialists with higher pharmaceutical education.
Currently, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, training is carried out according to higher education programs:
- Bachelor’s degree, in the areas of study 04.03.01 “Chemistry” and 38.03.07 “Commodity Science” (since 2018);
- Specialist, specialty 33.05.01 “Pharmacy”;
- residency programs 33.08.01 “Pharmaceutical Technology”, 33.08.02 “Management and Economics of Pharmacy”, 33.08.03 “Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy” (since 2017).
Industrial practices allow for the consolidation of the competencies and skills of students in conditions as close as possible to real practical activities in the workplace.
FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The opportunity to get higher pharmaceutical education at a unique Russian university with a long history has been attracting applicants from foreign countries for many years. The constant increase and diversity of the foreign contingent led to the creation in 2011 of a separate structural unit – the Faculty of Foreign Students. Over the years of the faculty’s existence, citizens from the following countries have become its graduates – Azerbaijan, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Vietnam, Ghana, Greece, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, Kenya, Cyprus, China, Kyrgyzstan, Congo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Madagascar, Morocco, Moldova, Mongolia, Nigeria, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Estonia. Graduates take pride in their place in the healthcare systems of their countries.
SCIENTIFIC WORK
The University works on theoretical, initiative-based, and contract scientific research projects and collaborative scientific development projects in partnership with scientific organizations. In cooperation with industry partners, the University uses its facilities to complete the full cycle of pharmaceutical development of medicinal and functional food products.
The main scientific research areas for SPCPU are:
- Processes for the streamlined synthesis of active substances for subsequent pharmaceutical development;
- Morbid condition modeling and pharmacological assessment of natural and synthetic compounds;
- Modern analytical approaches to quality control of active pharmaceutical ingredients (AFI) of natural and synthetic origins, medicinal products, cosmetics, food supplements, and functional food products;
- Process-based approaches to manufacturing medicinal-specific action products, functional food products, cosmetics, and food supplements, and modernization of the manufacturing of customized and small-batch pharmaceuticals. Personalized medicines ;
- Discovery and isolation of natural compounds as prospective drug candidates;
- Improving medicine provision in the public healthcare system;
- Modern biotechnology aspects in medicine and pharmacy.
UNIVERSITY DORMITORY
International students tend to stay at the dormitories, as it allows them to make new friends more easily, it is cheaper and easier to arrange than a rented private accommodation and means that you don’t have to hunt for a flat in the area you don’t know very well.
The students’ dormitory consists of double-bed rooms, study rooms, reading rooms, TV and video-watching rooms, recreational halls, kitchens, public services rooms equipped with washers and dryers, gym hall.
