METALLURGY, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, AND MATERIALS PROCESSING INSTITUTE

All the necessary resources to facilitate the training of competent specialists and experts are available at the Institute: there are modern, well-equipped laboratories in the departments. The faculty and staff of professors, Ph. Ds, and D.Scs drive the educational process by applying their rich experience. Most of them are state and industry award winners.

Students of the Institute undergo practical training at the largest metallurgical enterprises such as Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Group, Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant, Orsko-Khalilovsky Metallurgical Plant, Chelyabinsk metallurgical Plant, and so on. What is more, the students take part in research work under the Institute scientists’ supervision; perfect the mastery of their sport; enrich their cultural standards, and acquire managerial skills.

The Institute graduates prove to be successful workers and specialists in metallurgical, machine building, mining, and processing enterprises, design engineering, construction organizations, maintenance, service, and repair companies in the Urals and Siberia, Central Russia, and Ukraine as well as other CIS areas. Since both technologists and mechanics get fundamental training, industrial enterprises of Magnitogorsk, the Ural region, and Russia call for our graduates.

CIVIL ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE AND ARTS INSTITUTE

The faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering (now Civil Engineering, Architecture and Arts Institute) was founded in December of 1942 due to a strong need for qualified personnel to build the city and industrial enterprises.

In 2013, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering was reorganized by joining two structural divisions: the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, and the Faculty of Technology, of Magnitogorsk State University. As a result, the department acquired the status of the Institute and, consequently, changed its name to the Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Arts Institute. The Institute cherishes its traditions and grows following new world trends in the relevant sectors.

    RESEARCH INSTITUTES AT NMSTU

    Institute for Nanosteels

    Basic and applied research;

Experimental development work in the area of nanomaterials and nanosteels.

The Institute is engaged in both conventional research (innovative metalware, theoretical and technical developments in the area of coating techniques) and the study of the technology to produce nanostructured steel wires for high-strength steel cables.

Currently, intense research work is being carried out to develop innovative techniques to produce long-length nanostructured steel products. These developments are meant to satisfy the needs of today’s steel makers and metalware producers.

Institute for Metallurgical Technology and Metal Forming

    Research and development

    Research and production

    Lifelong education and practical training.

The Institute is engaged in innovative research for the steel-making industry of the Ural Federal District through the development of innovative steel grades and corresponding production processes for automotive, pipe, construction, ship and bridge building, and coated steel industries.

    Institute for Microtopography

Using surface microtopography, study and develop production processes to make products with specified surface microtopography.

By obtaining a specified microtopography one can save costs downstream. The results of the Institute’s research benefit steel rolling, automotive, metalware, stamping and forging, manufacturing industries, and industries that use coating techniques.
