Leningrad State University named after A.S.Pushkin
The University was founded on March 28, 1992, with the name “Leningrad Regional Pedagogical Institute”.
Pushkin Leningrad State University is widely recognized as one of the largest educational and research centers in the North-West of Russia, in which systematic work of creating an expert and consulting cluster is conducted to fulfill orders from federal and municipal authorities, as well as business structures.
The University possesses generally recognized scientific and educational schools, such as pedagogy, defectology, jurisprudence, philology, and others.
The University structure includes campuses, classrooms, libraries, scientific and educational centers, and faculty departments – everything that can be needed for successful learning.
Pushkin Leningrad State University is:

FACULTY OF ECONOMICS
The Faculty educates students and post-graduates to work at:
- public bodies;
- credit and insurance institutions;
- financial and economic structures in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region;
- economic, financial, marketing, production, economic, analytical, and managerial departments of the enterprises and organizations of different industries, sectors, and forms of ownership;
- financial institutions;
- tax authorities;
- educational institutions;
- investment funds;
- academic and institutional research organizations.
The students intern at the enterprises and organizations of Leningrad region and St. Petersburg.
During its work, the Department has developed a solid teaching staff, including various specialists in the field of Economics, Management, Marketing, Philosophy, and Social Sciences.
FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS
The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics trains students in the field of fundamental and applied issues of Informatics, and the use of modern information technologies in professional activity.
The higher education teaching personnel includes 22 teachers, four Doctors, and 13 Candidates for Sciences.
FACULTY OF LAW
Over the years the Faculty has cooperated with a number of State structures in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region at which students take all kinds of internships and receive positive characteristics.
In particular, student internship is carried out based on the Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Leningrad region, Departments of Internal Affairs of areas of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, structures of Federal Tax Service, Federal Bailiff Service, Directorate of the Federal Migration Service, Legislative Assembly, and lawyer organizations.
FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY
During their study, our students undergo practical training at educational institutions of St. Petersburg, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation, etc. Our graduates depending on the profile of training can work as primary school teachers, educators of preschool institutions, social pedagogues, educators in special educational institutions, experts of the Committee of Education, school psychologists, psychologists, staff and lecturers of universities, and so on. Thanks to the long-term work with potential employers, the Faculty demonstrates a high percentage of graduate employability.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Fundamental, exploratory and applied research at the university is carried out in cooperation with leading scientific institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education; educational organizations of the Russian Federation, and foreign educational and research centers on 68 topics within the framework of 71 cooperation agreements.
Key Research Priorities
transition to a highly productive and environmentally friendly agro- and aquaculture, development and implementation of systems for the rational use of chemical and biological protection of agricultural plants and animals, storage and efficient processing of agricultural products, the creation of safe and high-quality, including functional, food products;
countering man-made, biogenic, socio-cultural threats, terrorism, and ideological extremism, as well as cyber threats and other sources of danger to society, the economy, and the state;
the possibility of an effective response of Russian society to great challenges, taking into account the interaction of man and nature, man and technology, and social institutions at the present stage of global development, including applying the methods of the humanities and social sciences.
LIBRARY
The library fund of Pushkin Leningrad State University is diverse in content, purpose, and readership, and has about a million copies. It consists of different parts:
- a fund for educational literature, which includes textbooks, and teaching aids for all disciplines studied at the university;
- a scientific fund, represented by monographs, collections of scientific papers, publications of conference materials, seminars, abstracts of dissertations, dissertations;
- a fund of periodicals, including popular, socio-political, and mass periodicals (more than 250 titles);
- a reference and bibliographic fund contains encyclopedias, reference books, dictionaries of universal content and industry, and bibliographic publications;
- a collection of fiction that reflects Russian, Soviet, and foreign literature.
Almost a million books are waiting for your attention in the library of our university: textbooks and teaching aids, scientific and periodicals that are so necessary for a student’s in-depth independent work.
STUDENT’S LIFE

HOSTEL
Five-storey buildings with, a corridor system of rooms, each floor has an ironing room, two kitchens, three sinks, and eight toilets. Laundry on the first floor. The rooms are occupied by 2-3 people, and there is the necessary furniture and an Internet access point.
The hostel provides a mattress, a blanket, a pillow, a bedspread, a towel, and bed linen.
