The university is in the top 20 leading universities in Russia (for information, only 5 universities in the top 20 are located in the regions, the rest are in Moscow and St. Petersburg).

The university is in the top ten in terms of the number of students (27 thousand), ranks seventh in the country in terms of budget enrollment (more than 6,000 places annually, and the admission itself is more than 9,000 people annually).

The university campus is one of the largest and most comfortable in Russia and ranks 4th in the country in terms of scale (after Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and Far Eastern Federal University), and 1st in terms of student housing. The total area of the property complex is more than 850 thousand square meters. meters, more than 300 hectares of land, almost 350 thousand square meters. meters of hostels.

The university has 28 sports facilities, including several stadiums, 3 swimming pools, 2 world-class facilities (ski and ski complexes), a congress hall and a modern medical center.

The main advantage of the university is its close relationship with the largest industrial Russian companies located in the region: Rosneft, Norilsk Nickel, Rusal, Polyus, Suek, RusHydro. Several institutes of the university work in their interests, corporate research centers function.

The university also has a strong position in education and science in the fields of chemistry, physics, mathematics and ecology.

Social and humanitarian areas are also in demand: economics, management, linguistics, jurisprudence, advertising.

In the structure of the university, the only institute of gastronomy in the country, created in partnership with the Russian group of restaurant business companies, is dynamically developing.

More than 1000 students from 55 countries study at the university.

In accordance with the priorities of increasing international competitiveness, at the previous stage, a platform was formed for the transformation of educational policy aimed at introducing new educational technologies and standards (project-based learning, the CDIO initiative in engineering areas of training, etc.). Due to the development and implementation of educational programs in English, modules of master’s programs for academic exchange, double diploma programs, programs for teaching Russian as a foreign language, obtaining international accreditation, the university has been integrated into the global educational space, which has led to an increase in the number of foreign students.

The established Institute for Continuing Education has significant potential to increase the annual enrollment of students in additional education programs up to 100,000 by 2030. To date, technologies have been developed for recruiting students, creating author’s programs on a competitive basis with a scoring system, and selecting teams of authors for interdisciplinary courses.

On the basis of the physical and mathematical boarding school, programs of secondary general education are being implemented for 400 students from the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Russian Federation.

The university has a unique set and scale of material and technical base for teaching working specialties in the oil and gas industry, the hospitality industry, plumbing, motor transport, physical culture and sports industries (unique equipment, sports facilities, its own hotel complex). This creates the prerequisites for the possibility for each SibFU student to receive a working specialty / undergo a professional retraining program that takes into account his individual educational trajectory.

A system of interaction with large companies-employers of the region has been built in order to develop joint training courses and further employment of students who have been trained. New formats of cooperation with industrial partners have been introduced, new educational programs have been developed in accordance with the needs of companies, including dual education programs, applied bachelor’s and master’s degrees in technology. Examples of such innovative projects are the Graduate School of Restaurant Management and the Graduate School of Gastronomy by Institut Paul Bocuse together with the Bellini Group, the Graduate School of Automotive Service together with the Medved Holding Group of Companies.

As of October 1, 2020, the number of students under the program for the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel in graduate school was 713 people, doctoral students – 49 people.
