CHUVASH STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER I.N. ULYANOV

The university was founded on September 1, 1967, by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of August 17, 1967 No. 796, and the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR of August 21, 1967 No. 631 based on the Volga branch of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute as the Chuvash State University, which by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR of 30 November 1967, No. 882 was named after I.N. Ulyanov.

It consisted of seven faculties: historical and philological, medical, general technical, chemical, economic, electrical engineering, and electrification of industry.

At present, Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanova, founded in 1967, among the national Russian universities in the field of integration of pre-university and university education is one of the innovation centers, the leading scientific, educational, and cultural center of the Chuvash Republic, has a high rating indicator, a license for the right to carry out educational activities in educational programs and a certificate about state accreditation.

FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanova expelled hundreds of students at her own expense, the vast majority of them confirmed themselves in the profession. The faculty helped to find a specialty that became the meaning of life for graduates, and this is the main thing!

Professional workers in our specialty work in all volumes, where there are machines, and transport sensors, where material processing, thermal and galvanic processing is carried out, as well as in their own business. The received technical education allows them to look into the future.

The faculty has all the conditions for the training of highly qualified specialists who occupy specialized research and research laboratories: “Industrial Research Laboratory of Composite Materials”; Center for Youth Innovative Creativity of the Chuvash Republic, Scientific and Educational Centers “Hydraulics” and “Mechatronics”, five computer classes, a machine room with a fleet of metal-cutting machines.

CIVIL ENGINEERING

The faculty of Civil Engineering of the Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov was established in 1978 per the decision of the commission of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the USSR on June 15, 1978, on the opening of the specialty “Industrial and Civil Engineering” and “Agricultural Construction” at the Chuvash State University and the decision of the Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU and the Council Ministers of the Chuvash ASSR dated June 20, 1978

Today, the faculty has a lot of the necessary modern equipment for organizing the educational process: a laboratory base for testing materials and structures, and two computer classes. There is a local network of the faculty, which is part of the general network of the university, access to the Internet, and its own reading room with a specialized library fund.

The faculty maintains and develops a system of internships, and students have the opportunity to work in leading contracting and design organizations of the republic, for example, in CJSC Construction Company TUS, OJSC Otdelfinstroy, OJSC Starko, institutes Chuvashgrazhdanproekt, Cheboksary Promstroyproekt “, and many others.

Since 2007, the Faculty of Civil Engineering has been actively working on the preparation of part-time education based on secondary specialized education for civil engineers at the Representative Office of the Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov in the city of Sterlitamak, Republic of Bashkiria.

FACULTY OF CHEMISTRY AND PHARMACY

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Chuvash State University was founded in 1967 and today it is rightfully one of the leading faculties of the university in the preparation of highly qualified and in-demand scientific, scientific, pedagogical, and industrial personnel.

Today, its graduates work at many enterprises of the Chuvash Republic, as well as abroad.

The faculty has a highly professional teaching staff.

The faculty includes the following departments:

• organic and pharmaceutical chemistry;
• physical chemistry and macromolecular compounds;
• general, inorganic, and analytical chemistry;
• chemical technology and environmental protection.

Modern laboratory equipment is used for educational work and scientific research.

New forms and methods of interactive learning are being widely introduced. Modern computer and information technologies are actively used. Organized two computer classes.

A multi-level system of higher education has been introduced, providing for the effective training of qualified and competent personnel in the following areas:

04.03.01 Chemistry (bachelor’s degree); 04.04.01 Chemistry (master’s degree); 18.03.01 Chemical technology (bachelor’s degree); 18.03.02 Energy and resource-saving processes in chemical technology, petrochemistry, and biotechnology; and also by specialty: 33.05.01 Pharmacy.

There is a postgraduate course in the direction: 04.06.01 Chemical Sciences (profiles: 02.00.03 – Organic Chemistry, 02.00.06 – Macromolecular Compounds); the Candidate’s dissertations are defended annually.

LIBRARY

History of the Scientific Library of the Chuvash State University. I.N. Ulyanov is inextricably linked with the history of the formation and development of the university but originates from 1958 from the library of the Cheboksary branch of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute. A.A. Zhdanov.

Collections of the Sector of Rare Books and Manuscripts

The sector keeps in its funds:

• early printed books and domestic editions before 1945;
• publications in the Chuvash language until 1950;
• the first editions of the classics of national and world science and culture, their best reprints;
• publications – monuments of the great historical events of Russia;
• books with autographs of prominent public figures, scientists, and writers;
• miniature and original book forms;
• doctoral, candidate’s dissertations and abstracts of dissertations;
• manuscripts of original, contractual and unpublished scientific papers made in the system of the research department of the university;
