CHEREPOVETS STATE UNIVERSITY

Cherepovets State University was founded in 1996 as an integration of two institutions of higher education. Today it is the center of research, education, and culture in the region.

University is a system partner of the government, business, and civil society of the Vologda region and the city of Cherepovets, solving the issues of modernization in the economy and socio-cultural sphere, forming a space for development, participating in the transformation of the single-industry towns of the region. The University consists of the School of Engineering and Technology, the School of Humanities, the School of Information Technology, the Business School, the School of Education and Psychology, and the Faculty of Biology and Health Education.

According to the results of the competitive selection of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the University became the center of technological and social development in the region.

Cherepovets State University is a member of the Eurasian Association of Universities, a system of leading classic universities of Russia and CIS.

SCHOOL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

School of Information Technology was established in 2007 as a division of the University that concentrates on all the areas of IT specialists training. Enriching the best traditions of technical education, the School is constantly developing, upgrading laboratory facilities, and tracking the latest trends in the IT industry.

IT students have a unique opportunity to operate the most advanced equipment in the laboratories: “Nanotechnology”, “Stochastic Information Systems”, and “Laser and optical technologies”. The results of the training enable students to get grants for research projects, and, more importantly, to gain valuable experience. Students get not only a deep knowledge of information technology and information management systems but also excellent engineering training. It enables them to solve applied problems in production — a qualification that is highly valued by employers.

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

Established in 2007, the School retains and enriches the best traditions of engineering education in Cherepovets which have been developing for the last 50 years.

Students of the School get deep knowledge in the field of automated engineering technologies based on advanced software products. Regular cooperation with companies from various industries provides experience essential for a future career.

Even junior students are engaged in applied problems solving for real production. For this purpose, the School holds a development laboratory that deals with problems of special equipment and emerging technologies design. Students have field internships in the largest companies in the city, in the auto trade and service centers which have a stable and long-term relationship with the School.

FACULTY OF BIOLOGY AND HEALTH EDUCATION

Established in 2012. The faculty develops two academic fields: biology and physical education. Comprehensive academic and educational facilities give students opportunities to gain new skills and become professionals.

In addition to tertiary education students who concentrate on sports enhance their skills training and take part in regional, national and international competitions. The Faculty works closely with sports organizations of the city and region.

Those who concentrate on biology start understanding their profession being junior students — they have field trips to Darwin Nature Reserve, National Park ‘Russian North’, Institute of Internal Waters Biology (Yaroslavl region), Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Moscow region), Yalta Botanical Garden (Crimea), Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute (Murmansk region).

BUSINESS SCHOOL

Established in 2014. We have identified the best World and Russian practices of business education to implement them in our Business School.

Among students of the School, you can meet both: graduates of secondary schools who dream of a career in a large international company or going to open their own business, and experienced entrepreneurs or heads of organizations, seeking the development of their own competence.

We will support our students in discovering and developing their leadership, managerial and entrepreneurial potential.

In addition to degree programs in the field of Higher Education Business School provides additional services:

• effective executive coaching,
• training and thematic courses for individual students and teams,
• research and consulting in the field of a small, medium, and large business, management, and economics.

Business School is the first step towards a new innovative educational system that combines the possibilities of universities and other research and educational resources of the region.

Those who study management and economics gain experience in companies and organizations of the city. Banks, insurance companies, federal finance corporations, and city and governmental organizations are internship places for students of the School.

THE PREPARATORY COURSE

The Preparatory Course is a special additional program for foreign students to the improvement of their level of Russian language proficiency, and successful adaptation to the system of education at the university.

Preparatory courses allow students to:

1. improve the level of Russian language proficiency
2. assess the level of their education
3. expand, deepen and systematize knowledge in subjects
4. eliminate existing “gaps”
5. increase psychological readiness for the entrance examinations.

Admission is carried out without entrance examinations.

LIBRARY AND COMPUTING FACILITIES

Today the library of Cherepovets University is an important information, educational and cultural center of the University. The library provides access to all kinds of information, teaches to use scientific and educational resources, and contributes to the development of the intellectual and cultural potential of the University. Library staff also organizes various events (exhibitions, educational workshops, and subject reviews).

Electronic Library System (ELS) “Bibliotech” is a resource that allows you to read electronic books on various topics in pdf format. In ELS there are 3,500 books, including 500 textbooks. There is also a section where publications of the University staff and students are presented. All students and faculty of the University have free access to the system.

ACCOMMODATION

Cherepovets State University has three dormitories, which can comfortably accommodate up to 1,300 students.

Comfortable lounges, plants, warm and homely atmosphere. The main thing is comfort and convenience. That’s the only way to study and exercise efficiently and have a good rest. The dormitories are equipped with everything you need: gyms, kitchens, laundries, libraries, and rooms for studies. There are halls for student events. Each student has access to high-speed Internet. The entrance to the dorms is equipped with a permit system that works with electronic key cards and with a system of circular and domestic surveillance. In case of emergencies, the order is provided by a private security company — there is an alarm button.
