About Grozny

Grozny is a marvelous Russian city standing on both banks of the Sunzha River, the tributary of the Terek River. Its population is about 283,700 (2015), and it covers an area of  324 sq. km.

Many new modern buildings, business centers and new majestic office buildings amaze every single person who comes to Grozny. On the streets of Grozny, instead of numerous billboards, in addition to portraits of Akhmad and Ramzan Kadyrov and Vladimir Putin, you may see quotes from the Quran. Do not forget that Grozny is a city of Muslim culture. There are almost no historical objects in Grozny, only several pre-revolutionary buildings and Soviet monuments. All other places of interest were created over the past decade. The Chechen Drama Theater, the M. Lermontov Drama Theater, the Chechen State Philharmonic Society play an important role in the cultural life of the city.

The streets of the city are so picturesque that it is impossible to take eyes off. Every meter is full of beauty, calm, comfort. Regardless of whether you were just passing through Grozny, or you came here for a visit, you will immediately feel positive emotions.

Transportation is available almost around the clock and you may easily get any place in the city or outside. The airport “Grozny” (“Severniy”) is located about five kilometers from the city center. It mainly serves regular daily flights from Moscow. There are also such modes of transport as trains, trolley-buses, trams.

In Grozny, over the past decade, many new schools and universities have opened. Education in the city is reaching a new level, which attracts young people from all the republics of the North Caucasus to the city.

About university

Chechen State University opened on 7th of February 1938. Currently around 15000 fulltime and part-time students are receiving education at Chechen State University with 10 Faculties and four Institutes leading the learning process. Chechen State University has 814 teachers, including 55 doctors, professors, 236 candidates of sciences.

University works hard to create an environment where students can not only gain high quality education but also develop themselves personally. Student life at our University is filled with exciting events full of creativity and scientific inquiry.

The University won – third year in a row, the competition- “Development programmes of student communities”, commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. As a part of the Programme, the University successfully realised a number of projects and opened new facilities & Projects like – International Youth Centre, School of Student Leadership, Recording Studio, Healthy Lifestyle Centre and Student Evaluation Commission “For Quality Education”. For those who are keen on sports there are 14 sporting societies, a student sports club, and a swimming pool. The  University has its own botanical garden, zoological museum, historical museum, a library with 5 service departments, subscriptions, and reading rooms, a catering plant.

The Education Process incorporates modern technologies. The classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, hardware essential for video conferencing, extensive resources of online-library, both Russian and international databases available for students. The university administration assigns great importance to the development of academic mobility of the lecturers and works actively on inviting Russian and foreign explorers, well-known in the scientific and educational environment. The university offers different areas of training in specialized Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, as well as other Postgraduate courses.

More and more international students from all over the world are taught, welcomed and respected here. During the educational process, students put an emphasis not only on theoretical issues of various diseases, but they also gain practical knowledge in hospitals. MEDICAL DEPARTMENT

The medicine course at Chechen State University is aimed at providing leadership in healthcare with a particular emphasis on basic scientific research that underlines medicine. It is a fulltime course that allows you to study Medicine, Pediatrics and Dentistry. Inspirational teaching and training, outstanding basic and clinical research will improve medical practice for individuals as well as for population.

Accommodation

Accommodation of a student is one of the most important factors when it comes to living abroad. Russia provides its students with  very good facilities for accommodation. All foreign students stay in student hostels in rooms for 2-3 people. Rooms are equipped with the necessary furniture and bedding.

In winter, all rooms in university hostels are centrally heated. The average temperature indoors is +25 degree Celsius. Student hostel has a gym, classrooms for studying, laundries, kitchens, and a living room for all the students to gather, well-maintained toilets and bathrooms with showers of hot and cold water supply.

Unlike many other European countries, there is a kitchen on sharing basis for several rooms, where you can prepare meals according to your individual taste and wishes. A broad variety of food products from all over the world that you may find in food stores and supermarkets gives foreign citizens an excellent opportunity to stick to the same food that they were accustomed to.
