Amur State Medical Academy is a public university located in Blagoveshchensk, Amur Oblast, Russia. Blagoveshchensk is administrative center of Amur Oblast, Russia. Amur State Medical Academy was founded in 1952 by order of the Council of Ministers, as Blagoveshchensk State Medical Institute. It is one of the best and the oldest Medical Universities of the Russian Federation.

In 1974 there was established cardiac surgery center in which the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired heart and great vessels disorder with cardiopulmonary bypass, hypothermia is provided, as well as private methods, implantation of pacemakers, as operations for radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of tachyarrhythmias. In April 2012, the Center was renamed to Clinic of Cardiovascular Surgery. It is possible to provide about 700 operative treatments per year.

In 1996 Blagoveshchensk State Medical Institute was renamed to Amur State Medical Academy. In this Academy doctors are trained according to the European standards, as Amur State Medical Academy is admitted in the list of medical schools of Europe. Currently, the University has rich material resources and well qualified higher-education teaching personnel. All this allows to carry our research and in accordance with the highest demands. There are four training buildings, total surface of which is 21675 sq.m.

Today, thousands of students get education in such medical fields as: General Medicine and Pediatrics. There are 28 academic departments at the Academy. Postgraduate Departments of medical faculty are as follows: Department of Hospital Therapy with course Phthisiopulmonology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Hospital Surgery with the course of Pediatric Surgery. The main administering sub-department at the Department of General Medicine is the Department of Pediatrics. Also, producing Departments are: the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Hospital Surgery with the course of Pediatric Surgery, the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology and Dermatovenereology.

The duration of the program at intramural class program of the Department of General Medicine and Pediatrics for those students, who hold complete secondary education, is 6 years; there is no extramural class program for these Departments.

The Academy has one research unit – a center of scientific laboratory.

Teaching personnel of the Academy consists of 42 Doctors of Medical Sciences, 27 professors, 58 associate professors, 142 Philosophy Doctors and 22 Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation.

Accommodation:

Hostel for students is situated not far from the Academy. It takes a few minutes to get there. There are different types of rooms in the hostels: single rooms, double rooms and rooms for four persons. There are bathrooms and kitchens for students in every hostel.
